  1. It's Wrong To Be Loving You - Eddie Floyd (unavailable on CD). It's Me - Judy Clay (issued on the Fantasy Judy Clay/Veda Brown CD 'Private Numbers). A fantastic track. Booker's Theme - Booker T. & The MG's (issued on the Ace "Best Of Booker T. & The MG's" CD and on the Fantasy "Time Is Tight" 3 CDs box set)/5(4).

  2. Mar 24,  · The "albums that changed your life" thread got me thinking about an album called "This is Soul". It was a compilation that came out in the UK in the mid to lates sixties. IIRC it had a photo of a soul singer on the cover with a jigsaw motif. Tracks included Sweet Soul Music, Sam and Dave tracks, and a few Otis Redding (Fa Fa Fa sad song was one).

  3. Oh, for those heady Soul days of the late 60's and early 70's. I bought the LP version of this CD back in the days before the word 'vinyl' became oh, so, trendy. As far as we were concerned, records were made of black plastic and we didn't give it a second thought/5(24).

  4. Her classic duet with William Bell ("Private Number") is here,along with several other rare singles that sound like "Stax" at its best. Veda Brown is worthy partner on this compilation - not as thundering as Clay (who is really in top class when it comes 4/5(1).

  5. Judy Clay has ten of the 18 tracks on this CD, the remainder belonging to Veda Brown, an even more obscure late-period Stax female soul belter. Clay's work for the label was gutsier in general than the sides she waxed during the same time for Atlantic, although only one of them made any chart impact, "Private Number" (a duet with William Bell).
